Between 2000 and 2005, the energy consumed by such data centres doubled, both in the US and worldwide. As more and more people demand more from online media, then more power is needed to power the centres that keep the Internet and servers running. For the US in 2006, online data centres accounted for 1.5 percent of the entire country's electricity use - equating to more than the entire state of Massachusetts.

Family data: Confirmed: this is a portrait of my paternal grandfather, Roger Care, as a young man who grew up to be a lawyer and a justice of the peace in Pennsylvania. The name of the photography studio is faint on the lower right and looks like "Gaugler Studio, 408 Market St., Harrisburg, Pa. I became more and more absorbed in the somewhat enigmatic portrait as I attempted to restore it in Photoshop.
The original photo is in fairly good shape, it looks like he's looking out of a window, but with also what looked like faint water damage around it which I corrected as best I could. This is a clip of the photo which is mounted on large cardboard backing which apparently served as a calendar, as "1904" is visible on what remains of the last page that was torn off.
The embossed pattern around the photo is faint, but rather elegant.
Continuity: One of his sons, my dad, took many of the Kodachrome slide photos I've posted here.

This is a pile of computers by the front loading dock area which is right next to the office area.Offices up front wre all emptied into this area-desks,file cabinets, boxes of files,as well as these computers.Offices further in the building remain intact, though ransacked.I guess recycling was out of the question!
